Environment and Sustainability Statement

Looking after the environment is at the heart of everything, we do here at PDG Nurseries Ltd. We are conscious of our sustainability responsibilities and work hard to respect the environment.

We grow all our plants in peat free compost

Re use and recycle across the nursery producing as little waste as possible

We use the minimum amount of chemicals at our nursery, preferring to use biological and cultural control methods such as nematodes

PDG nurseries provides a strong emphasis on being a local wholesaler, which reduces the environmental impact of transportation.

Hold full digital plant passport records and are regularly inspected by the Government’s Plant Health Team (APHA)

We closely monitor all plants for any diseases and remove any that show signs of being unhealthy

Monitor and manage our energy consumption and continuously look for opportunities to use more energy efficient solutions.

Use water responsibly

Provide and maintain staff training in pests and diseases along with encouragement to develop new ideas to support this policy

We have planted out areas around our growing site to provide suitable environments for wildlife habitats and to increase populations of beneficial insects, this includes wildflowers and native trees and shrubs
